Default a/c low side fill ?

ok, what seems to be a r12 fitting in on compresser - but it does not seem to take my std r12 hose, was filled with r134a by ice cold auto air ( a shop) by last owner. any know what is the correct size of fill fitting ? (has a r134a on hi side in ft grill). the low (on comp) seems to be the same size as the fitting on the r134a can top)
any one have any clues ? or am i just not looking at it corectally ?
thanks R.

I don't think the car has a low side fill. When I have charged mine in the past, I've done the whole charge through the high side port in the grille. Using an AC machine, vacuum out any left over refrigerant from the high side port. Once, you have pulled a vacuum in the system, remove the hose and add your compressor oil and UV dye (if case there are leaks later, on you can find them because of the dye). Then fill the system with refrigerant through the high side port. Use R134a refrigerant. It's possible to charge an AC just through the high side, it just takes a little longer.

On my wife's '93 90 a couple years ago I did the poor man's retrofit when the cold air stopped. I bought the adaptor fittings at CarQuest and used the compressor fitting to charge with a couple cans with built in hose. It was good for 2 summers.

I have since bought gages, vacuum pump and leak detector setup. So this weekend I want to look at my '95 90 and see if it have been retrofitted already.

Let us know how it goes.

Someone retrofitted my 93 90 with a low side port on the compressor too. I was able to charge through it with the autozone cans but had to do it very slowly.
