Realistically how much can I sell the allroad for?

Axle replacement is pretty straight forward for the DIY type, if not I'm sure a shop would quote bout 2-3 hours labor . I like u have a 2003 allroad with lots of dealer receipts, nearly $5k from last 3 years, timing belt, 2 new air bags upfront, secondary water pump, etc. Also like you I don't need my allroad anymore either, as I also have a 2009 Volvo XC70 and a XJ Jaguar (2005). So, three cars in my garage, only me and wife to drive them. oh and I live in Las Vegas now too where it never snows lol. Could I sell it? Could I possibly get $8 grand? Possibly; but my issue is that I've had it for 6 years now, I've done all the major work to it plus a few nice things along the way. $8k seems like peanuts, it worth more to me a 3rd vehicle even if I only drive it one or two days per week. . I figure it can always come in handy for something. . like if / when another car goes down for whatever reason. If I sold the allroad, I'd be needing to rent a car I guess.

Disregard my post. . . I just noticed you also stated you would be replacing it with a BMW M5 E60.

Ok, that's all I needed to hear, I really want one of those two. . . I'd sell my allroad also if I could convince my wife to let me have one of those fancy M5's.

The M5 might have to wait, if I were to get one it would have to be 6 speed manual, I can't put up with the SMG breaking down when there is no warranty and the fuel economy is horrendous from what I've been hearing (8-12mpg if you are pushing it) but I guess you have to pay to play.

peanuts?... must b nice to consider 8g's as peanuts... dont sell if u need 3rd car. even if you can afford to let it sit for weeks. my guess is that you will need it when the jag s**ts the bed. I'd keep it...as a daily. don't let the AR sit, is my only advice. Oh, bout an hr per axle replacement for a legit shop

I suppose I should've have provided more clarification. I meant $8k being peanuts in the sense of what comparable vehicle could the allroad be replaced with at that cost? And when that new car is now mine, how much am I goona have to sink into it to either make it what I want it to be or any maintenance it may need. I don't think $8k goes very far regarding replacement. It's the "I'll stick with the devil I already know" kinda situation. . That said, $8k is plenty of cash in itself, but it's not enough to fork over my allroad for.

Just following up to see if allroad2.7 ever sold his allroad and purchased the BMW M5 (E60 style) ?

I had been keeping my eye on this particular model BMW for bout 2 + yrs now, along with its competitor the Cadillac CTS-V.
Both vehicles are somewhat difficult to come by (considering particulars such as color, options, etc). However, yesterday I did come across (local to my area) a 2010 Cadillac CTS-V (gray, manual trans, recaro seats, nav, panoramic sunroof, etc) with 18k miles for $51k, but $48k is my limit so dealer has to work with me on price but also with me trading my Jag & Volvo. The allroad stays with me ha, ha. I was just interested in seeing if you indeed jumped on the M5 since I may jump on the CTS-V in a day or two. Oh, and from scanning the Caddy forums, similar fuel ecomony range for them both (13-20 mpg range).

Yes I sold my beloved Allroad and I miss it but it was time to get something new. I am still hunting for a nice white E60 M5 white on red combo but they are rare to come by, maybe even Interlagos blue on grey. The CTS-V is a real beast, someone here at my local gym drives one, monster of a vehicle I tell you. Best bang for your buck.

In the meantime, I am feeding my need for speed with my Yamaha R6.

Thanks for the update on this subject. I indeed jumped on the 2010 CTS-V; they dropped price to $43k from the original asking of $51K though I kinda figured they had too after only wanting to provide $12k for my XJ and I owed $16K. So, the Caddy is at my house now. The fuel economy isnt bad on the highway crushing, reads like 21-23 mpg (instant). However, from red light to red light yeah. . . That's a whole nother story; i guess similar economy as the allroad, certainly no worse.

One thing about it that's interesting; that I wasn't originally aware of. In order to spin the supercharger you really have to put your foot in it. Unless your driving as though you're racing, it behaves like another straight V8 engine. Reminds my of my 06' Corvette in that regard.

Also, while I would probably have enjoyed a M5 just as well, I hated that those for sale were always across country somewhere ( most are in Cali, I'm in Vegas; not too far away I suppose).

Oh, and my Kawasaki ZX-14 has been sold too. Just waiting on check to clear to hand it over. Plenty of fun there, but never anytime to ride. Now it's just down to the Allroad, CTS-V, and my old 1988 Saab 9000 Turbo (it's stays forever lol).
