I heard its really heard. The reason i know this is because I asked my service advisor to switch out the dark gray on the 2005 model year, to the silver on the 06+. The quoted labor was $300-$400 because I he said the switches are built into the trim piece. And they have to work from the bottom up to loosen the components so the piece can fit to get out of the dashboard's top ledge.

Sorry this isn't really helpful, but may i ask why you want to take it off? Your navigation screen seems to work fine.

In short, you start by removing the vents below the instrument cluster, the side panel where the fuses are located, the headlight switch, the top cover on the steering wheel column, and then the two switches on each side of the MMI screen. Once these are out, there are fasteners that are removed, and then the cluster. The process requires some special tools for removing the vents THe Bentley Manual has the detail instructions w/ some pics, so I would suggest you get the manual if you want to proceed.
