Default 2013 Allroad mpg - lower than 2012 Avant

The 2013 allroad mpg are now up on the epa website (http://fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=32410). Says 20 city; 27 highway; 23 combined (vs 21/29/24 for 2012 Avant). I was under the impression from everything I read that the fuel economy was expected to be slightly higher for the updated A4 (due to thermal management and power steering modifications) - I wonder if a4 will be similar.

I think the allroad is heavier about two hundred pounds or something. The one that I drove had drive select, and I was unimpressed compared to my avant with sports package. Even in sports mode, the allroad still felt like driving a minivan.

Sitting 1.5" higher, taller roof rails, and protruding fender flares probably don't help aerodynamics either, LOL.

Stacked up against the competition this does not bode well for the A4 based Allroad.
This is a shock since I can link to several publicised articles anticipating better MPG due to enhancements.
For as compact as the Allroad is, compared to even a Q5, RDX, etc..., these numbers make it look like a lazy dog.
And the pricing!!

all that prophylatic rubber adds up! Nice looking car, but as it closes in on 4000 lbs, Audi is really asking a lot of that little 2.0T motor. I like the idea of the Allroad, but it's more expensive than a Q5, gets pretty much the same MPG, and is available with less engine variety, and it has no seperately defining characteristic that makes it unique or desirable amonge even other Audi products. It's jsut another routine Audi marketing fail like the A7.
