Turns out, according to SJM, there IS a specific cranking time in a no start scenario. 5 seconds. THEN the codes can be accessed.
BUUUUUUTTTT My CEL is not illuminated. At all. When replacing bulbs in the instrument cluster, I must have switched the CEL and the seat belt pigtail. Way to line myself up for confusion later.!! My ECU is NOT communicating. It also is NOT popping 5a fuse #26. When I install my known bad ECU. pop. I have a bit more of a problem than I thought. Good place to start pokin around with a MM? oi. time for a bentley.. no? ;p |

Have you fixed the bulb and the bulb position in the instrument cluster so the Check Engine Light comes on when the ignition is turned on. We can't help you further until you at least have a CEL.

Could you write that with a straight face? How in hell would you know you had a no start problem if you didn't crank for 5 seconds?
But, you only have to crank to set the codes if you have cleared them. In normal use of the vehicle, the codes remain when the key is turned off.

Definitely didn't have a grin on. I have been disconnecting the battery, not trusting my previous -14v condition. I understand what you are saying about the codes being non-volatile. Thank you for the info.
Looking at someone else's no start thread, I'll be checking for power @ T55/18(iirc) and the main relay hub hopefully today. I'll post results/concerns if needed. dankje dankje |
