Default Jack upgrade

As has been posted many times before, at least on the D2 forums, the aluminum jacks that Audi supplied are known to bend and collapse. They're just not strong enough and the D3 is even heavier.

I just retrofitted a scissor jack to fit in the same place next to the spare tire. I'm sure there are others that fit but I already has a 1.5 ton "Big Red" scissor jack in the garage. Remove the plastic jack holder, you can't use that anymore. The only "mod" I had to make was to grind down one of the leg ears about 3/8" so the floor would lay flat. I put some foam pieces in a couple of spots around but it's a pretty good fit.

I might flip the unused jack holder over and mount it on the other side. If I cut away the top (the old bottom), it'll be a nice tool/parts holder. I'm driving about 300 miles on Monday, hopefully I'll get a blow out so I can give it a real test.

Talking about the jack, i was cleaning my car, also the compartment for the spare tire here a week ago, as i did a thorough cleaning for the car the first time in a year I've owned it.

I got suspicious about the jack holder box, as it didn't want to stay closed, so i opened the cover, took out the jack, and found a 5 pack of "spare tires" under the jack..... unopened pack of condoms... guess how good a laugh i got...

A real player the first (and last) owner of the car

Sneaky to hide the rubbers from your wife in there
