8-pad sets are for the HP-2 calipers. They are beefier, and I don't know what years it was offered as an option for the AR, if at all.

Last night I was digging and could not find anything. I asked the seller and he said, "other than its function, I could not tell you anything else". I looked around some more and came across this, mistery solved. For 05 4 pads in the v6 and 8 pads in the v8.

For my 03 2,7T itīs two per wheel, I also got the heads-up about possible 4 pad-per wheel configuration via Autohaus. ATE/Girling, thereīs the difference I was told by my local Audi dealer.
Think most of ARīs has 2-per wheel config.

Only 2001 and a very few 2002 had Lucas-Girling HP2 calipers. Everything from 2/2002 and up had the ATE standard calipers.

My 05 4.2 came with the 8 pad fronts. It's easy to look and see, depending ability to see through your wheels.
I replaced them with the StopTech big brake kit, which only has 4 pads on the fronts. No difference in feel.

Is the 8 pad set is for the V8 and the 4 pad set for the v6?
