Default Q3 parked on the street in Washington, DC (x post to Q5 and Q3 forums)

Just spotted a gray Q3 with Michigan license plates parked on 17th Street @ Q Street in Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. I apologize in advance for the lousy cell phone pics but you can see it looks like a mini-Q5.

Good find. I assume it was a 2.0T?

I live in Michigan, and I see a lot of pre-production domestics on the roads, particularly Fords. The only VAG product I've ever seen was an R20 months before the US release. A Q3 testing anywhere here in the US is a good sign.

Nice it is!

We can see that the new 2013 series (just like the Q5 will have) has the new front grill which has the top (left & right) angles with new lights. Same design as the new A6 2012. Cool!

Yes, it was a 2.0T and the overall size seemed really good for the urban setting. I suppose we are seeing the cars because of the corporate office they've established in Virginia. Last summer I posted pics of a black A1 that was parked just around the corner from where I spotted the Q3 last night.

It seems very close to the size of Q5. I like the exterior style.

with the allroad, this car seems redundant.

+1, A bit taller with more clearance than the Allroad? As the OP said "Looks like a mini Q5". I thought it would be a little more different myself. I would have to see it in person to really judge for myself.

I suspect Audi is going for different demographics with the Q3, Q5 and Allroad. The dimensions of the Q5 and Allroad are similar. The Q5 is almost 10" longer than the Q3.

Length x Width x Height
Q3 172.6 x 72.1 x 63.3
Q5 182.2 x 74.0 x 65.2
Allroad 185.9 x 71.9 x 56.2

Let me put it this way. the Q5 has 57.3 cubic feet of luggage volume with the seats folded down. The allroad has 50 cubic feet. That means the Q3 would, theoretically, have between those wo numbers. That also means that there would only be a couple cubic feet difference between it an the Q5 and it and the allroad. So basically it is useless. The only advantage I could see for it over the allroad is if it has a flat floor in back (i.e. not transmission tunnel bump) but it won't. So again, I don't see the point.
