![]() The Goodyear F1 GS-D3 was arguably the greatest summer performance rain tire ever made and was stickier than wet snot on dry roads too. It had remarkable tread life and, when properly inflated (1-2 lbs over the recommended), had nimble characteristics equal to any of the top picks and better than most. This Super Sport is a comfy tire, but since I was down to the markers on the F1, I don't know how much is new tire tread v. almost no tire tread. The dry grip seems tenacious enough so far, but I haven't had anything other than fog-moistened roads to try out the wet capabilities. When I picked up the car from the installer, the ride home felt responsive, but when I gave the beast time to cool off and checked the pressures, he'd set them to 40lbs at all four corners. Why installers can't read labels I'll never know; heck, I even get the car back from dealer servicing with the pressures screwed up. Having reset the fronts to 36 and the rears to 31, the response is anything but crisp compared to the F1s. It's not confidence-sapping, but it's certainly not the dynamic alluded to in the Tire Rack survey and reviews (which all must be taken with a block of salt anyway). I'm going to monkey with front and rear pressures to see if I can dial in some more quickness, but thus far, this experiment in cost/benefit ratios (sub $300 performance rubber) is a mild fail. When you factor in that I generally paid closer to $260 a corner for the GS-D3s, well I'm a little bummed. Still having a blast of course, but a little bummed...
