I can't help you but have been a bit concerned myself with my order for 20 " wheels.
I focused on the ride and comfort and a lot of these test drives are governed by existing cars--mine being an Acura TL. It has been criticized for not enough sidewall on the 17 inch performance tires. Anyways, after several test drives I was convinced Audi has it right and of course there is the resale aspect. May I suggest you keep 20 inchers and just buy 19 inch wheels for piece-of-mind. If you could elaborate the number of test drives you did and the car you were coming from, the TT I presume, this would be very valuable information for potential buyers out there. Thanks. |

I drive the car everyday to work ~ 50 miles round trip. I have been doing so for about 6 weeks. The tire noise is quite noticeable and road expansion joints and imperfections are certainly felt. I don't like that it makes the interior crackle.
Yes, I do come from the TT with 18" wheels and magentic ride. My perception is that the A7 with the 20" wheels feels equally hard if not more so.

Is it possible to simply switch the wheels? Or, does the A7's computer have to be reset?

Not as long as you get the proper size tires for the smaller wheels. The overall circumference should be very close to the same.

I finally heard from Audi of America and they said "As long as you are replacing the 20" with 19" that are Audi original equipment you shouldn't have a problem". That was for the specific car I have on order.
The rep i spoke to was not sure if the offsets are the same and recommended I double check. There is some question what affect changing the wheels would have on the Adaptive Cruise Control. My car is not equipped with ACC but others should take this into consideration as even a slight change in the circumference may affect the ACC. |
