Default Maintenance

Hey. I have recently purchased an 09 A4. There does not seem to be a routine maintenance guide. Any suggestions on frequency of oil change and other needs?

You can find that on audiusa.com. Oil changes are at 10k miles starting at 5k. Spark plugs are at 35k. I'm not planning to do anything else apart from occasional air filter checkups. I have a washable filter. If you feel like it, you can change the brake fluid every 2 years. I have done that on other cars, but haven't noticed a difference really.

You really do need to flush the brake fluid every two years from date of manufacture.

Copper absorption in the brake fluid rises at a relativly constant rate and at 2 years it will start to increase corrsion of the PWM piston in the ABS unit. The loss of brake effectiveness is not only a safety problem, but can be expensive too.

Modern ABS fluids have two kinds of amine-based corrosion inhibitors but they change sides when copper levels rise they work to cause iron corrsion.

It really does not matter how much or how little you drive, it just needs changing every two years from when it was installed.

This can be used to tell if the copper level is high enough to require a fluid change:
