Windshield Wipers Stop in the Wrong Place

My windshield wipers stop in the wrong place. They work perfectly otherwise on all speeds. They just won't go home to the bottom position. Never heard of this before. There is no noise. No warning. Just started doing this out of nowhere. Again, they work perfectly other than stopping in the wrong place.

Any ideas?

Your wipers have "slipped". Not sure where you live, but I had the wipers on a Nissan do this once. Take a look at the link for some specifics.

Sounds like you need to adjust the linkage, very common.

Thanks for the help guys. Yep, the linkage slipped. Took anout 2.5 hours to figure out repair. Could do it in the 30 minutes next time. Again, many thanks.

You may want to replace the wiper transmission. I had this happen and it got progressively worse. There are DIY instructions out there if you search and you can get the part from ECS.

Have the same problem on 91 20VTQW. I've been told that the wiper control unit may need to be replaced. The mechanical linkage appears fine and the wipers did not "slip", but it seems like due to sever weather and freezing, the control unit has "forgotten" its "home position". Worst case, if it keys off the motor, the motor may have an issue reporting its position to the control unit. Will keep thread informed once I confirm which fix works. As a workaround, I've been quickly tapping down on the wipe switch until they go down to a reasonable angle - takes two or three tries to get it just right.

same thing happend to me, i sprayed some WD40 on it. works like a charm now
