I found a tint person with good reviews that had done several B8 S4s already, then discussed it with him before the install. That was all the prep work I did.

No issues with the install, except that it took about 2 months for the lines
along the heater conductors to level out and look clear again.

One other bit of advice before getting your windows tinted: wash your car the day before.

They get a lot of spray on the body as they size and shrink it on the outside surface first, so if you have a lot of dirt on your paint, dampened by the overspray, they'll just wipe it off with a towel and potentially scratch the paint.
