Power mirror gasket issue on A7; is it an A6 issue?

Apparently, some A7 owners are having issues with power side mirror gaskets prematurely wearing out requiring replacement of full mirror assemblies that will need painting to match the car.

Has anyone experienced this issue on the A6?

One thing I noticed is that the A6 and A7 have different mirrors. I find that a little odd that Audi would do that since the cars are so similar.
