"surging" engine at speed

2007 A4 2.0T Avant automatic. On a cold start, engine will surge approximately 100rpm every second when vehicle speed is kept constant at 30-40mph. Does not happen at idle. Will continue for the first approximately 8-10 miles, slowly improving, until problem goes away completely. The colder the ambient temperature, the longer it takes to go away.
Audi dealer was unable to diagnose problem. If anyone has had this issue and knows of a possible fix, I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks.

I have a similar problem but I've been calling it a stutter... I have a manual transmission. When the car is cold I get it...I've noticed as the oil temp rises it goes away.

I'm wondering if you see the issue disappear after an oil change. Mine slowly came back as the miles were put on the car after the oil change
