@ELEVENS, sorry to hear about your friends. I had a few friends move on from this world in similar incidents as well as others that have permanent injuries. I know how you feel.
Back to the topic - In regards to the comment below: Quote:

The horsepower vs torque discussion is a very old debate which isn't going to be settled in this thread in regards to what figure make a car faster on the track. But, when it comes to calculating the optimum shift point for a vehicle the torque curve is what is used. Again, you can get close by using horsepower - the main reason for this is peak horsepower is the point where your torque curve is falling off quickly.
