Default Bluebook value?

If, and that's a HUGE if, I decide to sell my 87.5 Coupe GT SB, what are they worth? Mine is in excellent condition, one owner before me, with around 160K miles on it. I have ALL maintenance records. My uncle even recorded when he put air in the tires and at what pressure. NADA lists the regular 87 CGT at around $2200 low retail, so I would like to have some hope for mine. Especially considering the SBs are kinda rare and mine is definitely not low retail. Any thoughts?

In the market right now? You can pretty much take whatever value you can gather (NADA is about the only one) and cut it in half. Then you MIGHT sell it. With a car like that you can definitely do better by advertising in enthusiast circles, such as on here, Motorgeek, et cetera. A car is worth what people are willing to pay, but somewhere in the $2500 range would be a good start if it's as minty as it sounds. If people laugh then take offers.

I will tell you that it's really frustrating to try to sell a car right now period. Nobody wants to pay full value and most people are looking for cheap commuters. And it's really hard to weed out the tire kickers without alienating potential buyers. Me? I would hang onto it until the market improves. Plus then it'll probably be more rare as the "cheap beater" people have had their way with a good portion of them and run them into the ground.

Out of curiousity, what part of the country are you in?

I think location definitely depends on how much you can get for it. Out here, in the Seattle area, you could probably get as much as $3500. People are crazy for 'em, and they're becoming pretty rare. If yours is in really nice condition, then you can get top dollar. Not to brag, but I often get notes left on my car asking if I'd be willing to sell.

Hey Joeltron, I'm on the other side of the state in Spokane. Our market over here is definitely cheaper than your market. We get a lot of dime-a-dozen Hondas with 250K miles going for $2000-$3000, but when it comes to cars that actually have some value, very select people show interest in them. If I can get at least $2000 when it comes time to sell, then I will be happy. I got it for free, so I can't complain too much. All it needed was a fuel pump and a little fresh gas to get it purring again.

That's cool, I've seen a lot of neat old Audis come from the Spokane area (including my '78 Fox). Must be something in the water.

I'm just outside Spokane in Nine Mile Falls and I have seen about 8 Coupe GT's that includes my 85 Coupe. But, I don't see many 4000s Q. Many of the Coupes are in different condition but all run. I also know the trouble in selling your Audi in this area. I even had bad luck in Seattle trying to sell mine so I elected to keep it. I really enjoy driving it and at 28-30 MPG on regular fuel it's even better.

Good Luck and if you see a Graphite Brown Coupe that'S me.

I think I've seen you! Something tells me there aren't too many brown CGTs in Spokane. You can't miss mine (when I start driving it). It's Alpine White with the "white out" package, which basically consisted of white trim pieces, bumper, etc. I can't wait to drive the thing around this summer. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the feel of the older Audi 5 speeds. I got to drive my parents' 1987 5000S sedan with the 5 speed. The car was a bit large, but it was a blast to drive on long trips and especially on mountain roads. It was so smooth and well balanced for a car that size. I know this is a CGT forum, but I can't help but reminisce.
