Default One of those, "died while driving"

Last night, during highway drive, my A8 D2 4.2 died from normal cruising speed. No pre warnings were given. The diagnose done is that fuel pump died. Reason why i believe that is that the fuel pump fuse and relay are ok. At least can feel and hear Klick from the relay when turning the ignition on. (ok, i didn't have means to measure the voltage at the pump, so there is one minor possibility left...)

Anyway, i opened the metal fuel line connection at the back of the engine. The connection that leads to the injector rail. And when the engine was cranked, no fuel did come out from the pipe.

So my diagnose for the fult, done on the rodsid, is fuel pump. Am i correct ? I cannot be sure which one (there was two "chromed" lines next to each other) of those lines i did open, but i suppose that it should have leaked/sprayed in any case when cranking ? Just some drops of fuel came out.

Thx in advance ! Now driving a small peugeot to my original destination , and wondering how in the h**l im going to get the car out from that deserted town i had to leave it in... Reminds me of Oliver Stone movie U turn
