Default Just got B6 s4....a few problems...

It is clean, dealer maintained (carfax shows it) 78k miles and really does look to be in very good condition. Interior and exterior are impeccable minus a few light scratchs in the paint that can buff out.

when I start it in the mornings, and then after work in the afternoon there is what I initially thought was the common chain tensioner sound.

But when I initially start it....it does not make the sound.....2-4 seconds later there is a sound that is similar to it. so the engine turns over quietly, then 2-4 seconds later there is a sound. I read that there is a "heat flap" on the front of the engine? and that if you hold it in the morning and start the car it won't make the sound. I can't find the flap though. anyone have a picture?

Thats problem 1.

Problem 2:
After a high speed run (on closed course :P) I noticed a slight slight vibration at WOT. almost enough to just forget about it and write it off. next day drove it like a saint like I usually do, and it was fine. Later in the day I do a bit of spirited driving and the vibration gets worse, then all of a sudden it gets much worse after going around a corner. I stop, revv it in neutral and the car is shaking bad. Almost like a bad engine mount. After much research, I find the flywheels in these cars go bad. So at that point I was flipping out. Then I am driving home, and it goes away. Has not come back since (knock on wood) its been a few days so far.

Is that sound in the morning the flywheel? If so, I need to unload this thing quickly.

Any help is appreciated.

1. What does the sound sound like ? Is it a ticking or whining ?

2. What makes you think a bad motor mount ? Could you isolate the vibration to the engine bay ? or from further back the driveline (tranny/differential/axle)?

3. If you're unsure, have a professional Audi mechanic check it out. It doesn't sound like they're causing driveability problems . . .
