1. While you can go RS2 with the SMIC, it isn't a good idea. There are lots of FMIC DIYs out there. If you want quality buy the Apikol kit.
2. Injectors are rated by their flow at 3.0 Bar (where 1 Bar = 14.5 psi). So stock AAN (not ANN) injectors at 280 cc/ min @ 3.0 Bar are considerably smaller than the ADU (RS2) injectors at 360 cc/ min @ 3.0 Bar. 034 has some RS2 "replica" injectors that can work (they are actually GM supercharged 3.8L V6 injectors, e.g. a Pontiac SST or the like, if you can find them at an autowreckers). 3. Going to a 3076 will require a larger fuel pump as well as the larger injectors and will likely require a custom, i.e. on a dyno, at $$$/hr. Better to go with one of 034 hybrid turbos and their associated software. 4. You never said (or I forgot), but you should replace the OE exhaust manifold if you go to even the RS2 turbo, let alone something larger. Stay away from welded steel. Go for a cast OE RS2, RS2 clone (not really my recommendation but probably better than the stock EM) or a Wagner Engineering RS2 EVO exhaust manifold (my recommendation. 5. If you don't have a 3.0 Bar MAP sensor in the ECU, you need one or a VMAP from Moreboost.

You appear to have the misconception that upgrading the ECU software is done at no cost by all the tuning companies. Joe Hoppen used to do this for the MTM upgrades he sold, but I know of no others that had this offer.
You might get a price break over the published prices by dealing with the same tuner, but I doubt anyone will do it for free. Each change you make in the software will incur a charge with any I know of. The ECU chips will not "adapt" for any hardware changes, so you should settle on the hardware first and then have the corresponding chips installed. You might shop various tuners for the availability of off-the-shelf chip sets for a particular hardware setup you plan to use. Otherwise, you may be left to use a chip set designed for a different turbo setup that "should work just fine", or pay for a custom tune on the vehicle.

Again thanks for the great info, I ordered the 034 fmic so thats on its way. That info on the injectors is interesting as well I might go try and find a grand prix or something.
Also UrS4boy I do have a cast RS2 manifold and the 3 bar map sensor with my stage 1 tune from shadetree...and I do know it costs upgrading from my stg 1 to stg 3 but I can't get any support from this shadetree place because I would like to only have to pay the difference on the stg 1 to 3 vs having to pay for a whole new stg 3 from mtm or somebody hopefully I make sense. |
