Default adaptive headlight defective

I have a 07 Audi A4 2.0T 6 spd. I checked the fuses and i doubt both motors went out at the same time so i think it is hopefully a simple computer issue but i don't want to go pay Audi hundreds of dollars to look at it before they even do anything. does anyone know any tricks to reset the comp or check where the problem is coming from. help would be appreciated. im broke and dont want to bring in the car. stupid test drive hooked me on that thing. Good credit is a curse because Audi's are expensive to repair. especially at the dealership. thank you to anyone who has advise for me. and I'm new to this. Audi's and the forum. what the hell do they mean by post a poll?

Hi Jeff,

See if you can find someone nearby that has a diagnostic tool - factory level. This is the VAG-COM forum where people will talk about using Ross-Tech's VAG-COM or VCDS diagnostic tool to work on their Audi. The tool allows you to connect to all the computers (ECUs) in the vehicle and pull fault code information from these computers. Your adaptive headlights probably have a fault code stored.

I drove a '06 A4 2.0T 6 spd and I had trouble with the Yaw sensor from time to time. When I did, the headlights would not adapt and change position. It was an intermittent issue and I never resolved it in the 3 years I leased the car. I did get fault codes when the sensor was acting up. I'm suggesting that perhaps your car is doing something similar. I also had an indicator light on in the dash as memory serves.

Again, my suggestion is that you see if someone on this forum near you would mind running an autoscan on VCDS. Post that scan here and then folks can make suggestions of next action.

When i first got the car the RPM's would bounce between 1&2 and i remember the code reader would shoot out a bunch of irrelevant ****. turned out to be an oil breather valve. well, i work at a shell with a shop so hopefully the mechanic won't be a dick and let me use the code reader and if we cant make sense of it check old threads and/or make a new one asking if anyone can make sense of the codes. I swear German cars are designed in so many ways to make u go to their shops. normal code readers will not get the same results Audi's will get.

*****, i cant figure out how to edit or delete that. so basically get a code reader and if it doesn't make sense and shoots out a bunch of random codes go online or to this forum and try to make sense of it. I'd like this feature to work but i could see audi charging me 500-1000 for my headlights that are working fine. the warning light is more annoying than the feature not working. I mean the last 50 years we could drive fine without the headlights turning with the wheel. Is there anyway Just to make the light go away cause it's front and center of the dash and annoys the F out of me?

You need a VAG specific and factory level diagnostic tool to work on this car and this problem. That is why I suggested you ask on this forum for someone who has VCDS to come to your aid. Your generic or multi-brand diagnostic tool is not going to solve this problem.
