Hi guys, popping in from the D3 forum. I have a 2005 D3 4.2 shorty. I've bought VagCom and done a couple of jobs on the car with it, like lowering etc, but feel there is so much more to learn, and many jobs on the car to do.

Most pressing: Low beam range.

Ok, so I've changed both low beam bulbs as one was dull (still is, more later) but on reassembly, having had to remove drivers side range motor in order to re-establish disconnected 'ball and socket' joint at the xenon carrier, the drivers low beam is now aimed WAY low. Lamp assembly is in place, and not pointing downwards.

I thought I found a VagCom process to move the lights (channel 55), but that had no effect, and the VagCom 'Light left' and 'Light right' channels both give a 'controller not responding' message. (do these even relate to the headlights?)

I also have a headlight range error message on the dash now that will not reset.

Thanks Uwe, here's teh latest scan. I had some success today, and mechanically moved the drivers side low beam up to match the passenger side, and I managed to get some help from the D3 forum and cleared the headlamp dashboard warning that had popped up. I still have 'odd' low beams though, in as much as the don't both look the same. One is brighter.
Here's the latest complete scan, ignore the address 55 DTC's... incidentally, the 'Auto-Scan' almost always hangs up on the Digital radio address....

I think I can get to grips with that, but the high beams are still wayyyy up high in the trees. Can they be adjusted separate from the low beams?

I understand that some markets have a halogen high beam, the innermost bulb in the housing. Here in the USA that bulb is only for flash-to-pass (and perhaps DRL, although I haven't confirmed that yet). If UK uses the inner halogen bulb for high beams, then my info above does not apply.

That inner bulb drove me nuts as I could not get it to light and just KNEW it should! Then I flashed to let someone over and saw the pattern of the reflector projected onto their car and the (2cp) bulb in my head went on as well!
