Default Mystery Plug?

Hey guys I am new to the forum. I really like it so far. I have a quick question. I just finished a timing belt replacement on my 97 Audi A4 (2.8 12v). While putting everything back together I came across a connector that is giving me trouble. Can anyone tell me what this plugs into?

In this photo it is the green plug to the left of the power steering reservoir.

That green connector hooks up to your AC compressor. the other end is below the Frame Rail in the photo.
This is a single wire or ground that actuates the compressors clutch.

This isn't the AC plug. Notice the different sizes? You can see the other end of the AC plug barely hidden behind the wires next to the p/s pump.

I have the same problem. The mechanic didn't even know so I just assumed it was an empty plug for some diagnostics or something.

Anyone know?

Default Green plug

Had this same issue not too long ago. After some searching on the forum, it turns out that the green plug is an extra plug for the canadian and european versions. The US versions have no use for these plugs. If I recall correctly, it might be for the headlight washers.

After I put everything back together without hooking up that plug, everything worked fine. If I had some more time right now I would pull up the past threads about this issue. When I get home tonight I'll see if I can post some links up.

Cheers!
