Default B6 S4 starting issues

Just got back from the dealer saying they need to put a new fuel pump in after car conked out going to work a week ago. (I replaced the same fuel pump, identical part numbers, in 9/10 @ 93k mi.) Car now has 106k mi. and it is 13 months later. They also replaced the crank sensor this time. Last year when I had to have it towed 3 times to the dealer they played parts swapper trying to figure out why car was dying or running rough and the MIL light kept coming on. We replaced intake gaskets, N80 valve, fuel filters before the fuel pump. Does it seem logical that the new fuel pump would dye 13 months later and/or car is still having starting issues?

Possibly depends on the brand of the pump. Did it seem to get louder as time went by? Now that you've had this happen again I'd check to see if the strainer the supplies fuel to the pump is partially plugged.
