Default Shopping for Avant, Colorado

Hey All,

I lost my companion of 11 years and over 150,000 miles on Sunday in an accident. She was a 1997 A4 2.8, and my 5th Quattro. Good thing, she took great care of me, and no one was injured. Bad thing, I have to find a replacement. As the stock in the region is pretty thin and I am at a point where I have narrowed the wishlist to a fairly small group of cars. I am looking for insight on Colorado area dealers.

As all of my previous vehicles have come from Ed Carroll in Fort Collins I am unfamiliar with many of the Denver area dealers. I see several cars at Import Warehouse, any feedback on these folks? I know a little about Prestige and McDonald, Stammler in Boulder is going to be out of my price range, I think since they only hold on to Certified cars. I don't mind looking at Brokers although I am cautious since a couple of friends have had horrible experiences with one in Boulder.

I also am not at all opposed to private party cars, however, I would prefer that my tech up here gets a look at it first (or at least a dealer in the area).

Here's what I am generally after:

- Quattro (must have... front-trac: nice, but not for me)
- Avant (very much preferred, we road trip a lot, but a good sedan would do)
- A4 2.0T (preferred, although I wouldn't be opposed to an S )
- Black, blue or grey preferred but I would look at silver, no red/yellow.
- Sline package preferred
- Manual transmission (preferred, but I know how small that market is), or
- Tip (with Sline package/paddles )
- Titanium (would love to get this, but, not going to hold my breath)
- less than 100k miles (again, preferred but all my previous cars have gone past 200k, so I know what to expect)
- '08 to '05.5 (prefer the B7 body)
- around the $17k - $20k mark (may be able to push further but...)
- patience, I have to wait for the insurance process, couple weeks.

If any of the folks in the area have shipped a car in, I wouldn't mind hearing how that works. If I find the right car out-of-state, that would be an option. I am also open to what to look for in a 2.0T.

Thanks in advance.

New car obtained, thanks for your input JBDinTX. It's a sedan, so not exactly what I wanted, but it has a lot of other things going for it. Details and pics to come.

Laters.
