trying to get a cup to stick to his head. I kinda watched (not pervert-like though). He did this for 3-4 minutes.
All I could think was- he's about to go 160mph with 20-25 other cars and he's playing with a cup? I'd be crapping in it...

I know this thread is old (like me) but...
I attended the "Dallas Grand Prix" in 1984. It was held at Fair Park- where the State Fair of Texas has its permanent home- a makeshift course using concrete barriers in a parking lot. It consisted of an actual Formula 1 Grand Prix race, and a 50 lap Can-Am race the day before. It was so freaking hot- typical for July in Texas- I simply could not believe the GP folks did not do their homework on the Texas summer heat. Tires melted in one lap. The track was disintegrating due to the really old patchwork of concrete (the fair has been held there since the 1936 Texas Centennial). and the 50 lapper the day before did not help matters. October would have been ideal. I suspect F1 has never forgotten and I think for this reason wont come back to Texas. http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks...sFairPark.html Moving forward to 1988, the same parking lot circuit held the Trans Am race for one year before moving to the town of Addison a few miles north, then back to Dallas around Reunion Arena- where the Dallas Mavericks played basketball before they moved to the newer AAC. Audi was regulated out of competition after a year or so, so I never went to watch the struggle between inferior cars after the '88 race. I think SCCA wanted Audi to carry a small elephant during the race to level the playing field? But for 1988, the Audi 200 Turbo Quattros dominated. They seemed to have far less trouble with the poor track and the heat was not a factor in January. And unless you were rooting for someone other than Audi, you enjoyed quite a show! The Audi's- under Hurley Haywood (#44) and Walter Röhrl (14) were simply blistering their competition. I recalled the Quattro equipped cars, with their lightweight 5 cylinder turbo motors barking upon upshifts, were taking huge advantage of their heavier V8 RWD counterparts, and passing them on the OUTSIDE of every corner. Haywood finished 1st by some 47 seconds over 2nd place Irv Hoerr in an Olds Cutlass (really?), and Röhrl ended up 13th with a DNF due to suspension problems. Check the drivers and owners names (which entrant is related to Kim Kardashian?)- including Paul Newman in a 300ZX, and note how few cars went the distance: http://www.racingsportscars.com/resu...5-01-8594.html Want to buy Haywood's championship winning car? http://forsale.classicandperformance...ad=22502&d=150
