We had that same issue a week ago...drove over to get something to eat no radio, came back to start it up and the radio worked again.

It is really interesting that this happens. I had an '07 Escalade that would go silent about once a month. The screen would show the CD track, radio station, etc. A restart solved the problem.
My new Range Rover did this one time. I could hear a background hiss though. The wife said that the Q did it one time as well. The same bug showing up from 3 different vehicle manufacturers is a real coincidence. Maybe there are some components shared in the amps or something. I know that the GM and Land Rover share DENSO products. Not sure if the Audi does or not.

I posted the same issue on the Canadian Audi forum back in December. I have a B+O system that lost all sound completely. Turns out bad B+O power amp which was replaced under warranty, only had about 1000 miles on the vehicle. I noticed the sound did cut out off and on for a few weeks before it cut out for good. Audi did have to order amp from Germany (according to the tech). Good Luck.
