Default Apple 'Bonjour' program preventing iTunes from working

Bonjour is somehow used by iTunes, and my installation of Bonjour is mucked up, but I can't fix it. I cannot Repair the installation, or remove it. Plus, I think it's not installed anymore, although the system seems to think it is.

Under Add/Remove programs, it is there, but the buttons to act upon it don't do what they should. They point to a sub-directory in the C:\temp directory which does not exist.

I checked the registry and there are items for Bonjour, but I'm not a registry guy so I left it alone.

I cannot re-install Bonjour or iTunes because of this problem.

Any ideas?

TIA.
