I purchased this gun on March 26 2004 for $435 and I've been pumping rounds through it ever since. I average around 200 rounds per 1-hour range session with this gun, and this week alone I've put 1000 rounds through it. It is by far the gun I shoot the most, primarily because since 2004 it is the same model that I've been issued whenever I go overseas for work. It's a third generation G19 that has been modified with an undercut trigger guard (to get rid of the "Glock Knuckle"), a Vickers over-sized magazine release, threaded Lone Wolf barrel, and a grip treatment by a local gunsmith. This was the first Glock I've had the grip modified on, and though I like it overall, I now have a better idea what will work for me in that area in the future (more in a sec). The gun is on its second set of sights. I had Trijicon three dot sights installed by the dealer when I purchased the gun, which I've since replaced with Warren sights in a subdued yellow tritium rear, and a bright green tritium up front. I'll probably switch to a plain black rear sight soon, as that combo works better for me since I tend to get distracted with the rear tritiums. The gun is worn as you see it in the pics, with the TLR-1 attached, riding in a Raven Concealment Phantom light compatible holster. I'm a fan of the TLR-1 light for the money and own four of them. Whenever LA Police Gear throws up one of their 15% off sales, I pick up another one, and the new C4 LED makes this the best bang for the buck coming from a guy who owns his fair share of Surefire products. Absolutely love this gun and I am considering picking up a second G19 as a backup. Field stripped - the Lone Wolf Barrel fits perfectly right out of the package. I had to modify my Raven holster to allow for the extended barrel. You also get a decent profile shot of the Warren sights, which sit taller than the factory sights and the Trijicons. Carry ammo is from Georgia Arms. Closer look at the Grip treatment. Couple of changes I'll be making when I eventually get my 4 other Glocks in for the treatment. First, I'll continue to knock off the finger grooves as was done here, but instead of stippling the entire front strap, only the removed finger grooves area will be stippled. Sides will be done the way you see here, but the backstrap will not be stippled (the reason why in a few). Great shot of the undercut trigger guard - a must have modification for all of my Glocks now. Here's why I won't be having the back strap done on any future Glocks. All that white you see is a combination of skin, lint, shirt, cleaning rags, etc. As far as I can tell, the treatment on the rear hasn't really helped me grip the gun any better (the sides and front strap take care of that), and the added gunk just isn't worth it for me. Unfortunately no way to change it back on this gun, but a lesson learned. Cleaning it up involves hitting it with solvent, and then following up with some oil. Nice, how much does that stippling cost? How come you stick with the 19? I was just mentioning at the other forum that I was going to pick up a 19. I had three and sold them. After ordering some in to sell, I'm going to have to keep one for myself.

I like the G19 for several reasons. First, it's the gun we've been issued since at least 2002 (along with the G17 every now and again). Second, it's easily concealed. My first Glock was a G26 that I eventually traded to a friend for a modified Remington 870. The G26 was just a little too small for me, but the G19 is just about perfect. I get better groups from my G34 and G35, but my performance with the G19 isn't that far off from those guns. My local dealer has a couple of the Austrian proof marked G19's and I think I'm going to pick one up, configure it almost identical to the one above and use it as either my primary or as a backup. I'll have to check my log book for an accurate round count, but I'm guessing I've got over 20k rounds through this gun, with the only major repair being the replacement of the trigger spring (went out on me about 5k rounds ago).

Do you think the 19C is worth the $ and increased muzzle flash? Besides looking cool, I would suspect that follow up shots would be faster and easier.

Frankly, I'm not a big fan of ported guns to begin with, and definitely not on a fighting gun. More room for gunk to build up (the slide cuts on my G34 and G35 collect all sorts of crap), and the muzzle flash can be distracting at night, or worse, dangerous if they highlight your position even more than the regular muzzle flash would. I also don't know that it increases follow-up shots on a G19 by much, if any, considering the gun is already a fairly light recoiling weapon. Maybe with hot ammo, but even then I don't know that the benefits outweigh the negatives.

you do not want to have a "C" as a carry gun. Low light conditions + ported gun= bad vision

My dad's issue G35 was ported after the fact. He loves the recoil reduction, but the shop that ported it drilled the holes directly in the top of the barrel (opposed to off center the 19C) so after the first shot, his front trijicon is covered in powder residue.

I was thinking that the way the 19C is ported wouldn't affect the front sight, but it doesn't seem like its worth it.
