Default More New Guns

While in Iraq last year I came across a group buy on another forum for CZ guns. I got on the list for a CZ-SP01 and finally took delivery of the gun last week. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) they sent me a SP01 Tactical with the decocker. The version I thought I was getting would have come with a manual thumb safety. Not sure if I'll keep it or try and trade it for what I originally wanted, but we'll see. I'll do a full write-up later today when I get home and can take some pics. The complete order I placed included the SP01, 3 extra mags for a total of 6, the CZ Kadet Kit (.22 slide assembly) and three extra mags for the Kadet.

I also picked up a HK45. My first contact with this gun was a FDE model at the 2007 SHOT Show. The model I purchased was produced here in the States and if it's anything like my USP Tactical, should be a tack driver. Pics and a write-up on that gun will be forthcoming as well.

Nice, interested in your HK45 write-up.

I've actually been on a tear lately, so though I originally mentioned the new CZ and HK additions to the collection, I actually have about 6 new guns that have been added to the safe over the last week or two. Pictures are crappy, but here's a Sig that I've been trying to locate for over a year now. I actually wanted the regular Sig P220 SAO, but ended up jumping on a P220 Carry SAO:

I'm punching decent groups with the gun, as has usually been the case with any Sig I've handled. Biggest complaint so far is the fact that my regular thumb riding safety grip seems to result in the slide lock being depressed, resulting in the slide not locking back on an empty mag. Trying to figure out a solution to that issue now that doesn't involve learning a new grip. Muzzle flip is somewhat pronounced, but not too bad. This one came with night sights already installed and three mags - I have a holster on order from Raven Concealment to really work it out on the range.

Sounds like you are always on a tear. One hell of a collection you've got going on there. I'm trying to decide what to get next. Maybe a 9mm XDM or a Sig 250.

I handled the Sig 250 at SHOT and was generally impressed with the concept. I just don't know how well all the components will hold up if one truly takes advantage of the system by frequently swapping around the pieces to handle different calibers. I'll be keeping an eye out for long-term reports on the system.

Default Couple shots of the CZ

I'm going to try and get it out to the range tomorrow. My only beef with CZ's is the lack of real estate on the slide to rack the slide on reloads. The relatively low/slim profile of the slide lends itself to the slingshot method of racking the slide, but I was taught the overhand rack and find myself grabbing slide and frame when doing so on this gun.

Unwrapping - the folks in CZ definitely didn't skimp on the grease.

Believe the gun came with 3 mags, and I ordered an additional 3 with the gun.

Don't recall being asked if I wanted tritiums, so it appears the Tactical model ships with the night sights.

Field strips pretty easily, but as of right now I need the aid of something stout to push the slide lock out. If I had this gun in the field, the base pad of a magazine works just fine for that job.

Did you go to the show in FL this year? I can't remember, I know you posted about it before. I just started talking to friends about going to the Vegas show next year. It's in a different building then they usually have it.

Default Yup - made it back from Iraq in time

and was able to make the trip down to Florida. I have yet to make it to one of the Vegas shows, but since the next three SHOT shows will be held at the new convention center there, that should change pretty soon. I threw up a couple of posts after each day, but I think I may have forgotten to post about the last day. Since I didn't bring a camera, the posts weren't all that special either!
