Subwoofer Install
As good as the stock BO system sounds, it falls a little short when it comes to providing that deep sounding bass some audiophiles like myself enjoy. To remedy this, I decided to swap out the stock subwoofer for something a little more substantial.
There were many options to chose from, but I ultimately decided on a 10" JL Audio driver (10W1V2). I also considered the Pioneer TS-SW2541D (a shallow mount driver), but it only came in 4 ohms. Stock was 8 ohms, and I wanted to keep things the same since I planned on using the stock amp. I also considered the 10W3V3, but it's about 2 inches deeper than the 10W1V2, which meant it would have stuck out that much more in the truck. Moreover, because I decided to continue to use the stock amp, I wouldn't have been able to take advantage for the more powerful 10W3V3 anyway.
For my purpose, i.e., to improve the bass over stock and not go thumpin down the road, the 10W1V2 worked out great. The lower bass sound is now vastly improved over stock.
Here are some pictures from the install:

The install took about 1.5 hours, as the enitre rear panel and upper rear side panels needed to be removed to gain access.
CAUTION: When you remove the rear speaker cover over the subwoofer, be extremely carefull. The tabs break very easily. Trust me... I broke one!!!

Will the factory amp power the JL adequetly?
Normally factory power is barely enough to push the factory speakers so I'm curious to know what your opinion is so far in regards to the low end dynamics?

Nice work! I think we have the same setup (minus) the subwoofer.
The JL that you used looks like it worked out nicely. I didn't get the opportunity to try out your model, looks like it would work well in as an IB sub. How do you like the transition from the factory midbass to the sub?
I went through four other diferent woofers to try and locate one that I liked a lot.
Interestingly enough, the speaker that surprised me the most was the JL 10IB4 subwoofer. For being relatively low quality looking (paper cone) compared to the rest, it actually performed nicely with the only drawback being that the roll off seemed too steep when playing tracks with the deeper bass. It is a very efficient speaker but seems most of the output is concentrated around the 50Hz frequencies. Like your setup, both the JL 10W3V3 and Polk MM2104DVC solved the deep bass issue well, and they are pretty comparable but I don't think I'm fully satisfied. I may either try out one more subwoofer or may continue on with adding a small enclosure. I'd say I'm about 90% happy now, but there is that 10% that keeps kicking me in the side.
The dynamat makes a huge difference doesn't it? Nice work on your setup and post!

If no seperate amp did you reverse phase?
Since the JL is mounted backwards from how the OE sub was mounted.
