Interesting and interested though I will wait for a TDI version to arrive and also to see if VW's Tiguan comes with a TDI.

And it will be 2-3 years before I can get either an A4 Avant or Q5 (if I'm somehow cured of my dislike of SUVs) with a TDi?

Is this (roughly) correct?

Despite the huge price jump, the 535 Xi Wagon (6MT) is looking more and more appealing....

And did I miss it, or was there no mention of a MT in the Q5?

Geez, we're looking at $4/gallon gas very shortly here in the US, and they're going to bring in the gas Q5 first. What the hell are they thinking?

Also, why is the delta $ so high between Audi gas and TDI, when Meredes and BMW's aren't? What's up with that?

Looks like I'll be driving a BMW X3 diesel long before the Q5 TDI ever makes it to our shores.
