Default Paging: the petrol heads in the U.K......

I've been told that there is a transmission tuner located in the U.K. who might be able to modify Audi transmissions on request or manufacture gears or gear sets.......is there any truth to it?

And if so, would any of you gents know the web address or contact info?

I'm looking to modify an S4 gearbox with a longer 5th and 6th gear to break the 190MPH mark during an independent run on the Salt Flats.......any help or advise would be much appreciated :-)

TIA!!

Default I've not heard of anyone but I'll put out some feelers.

Default Here's the responses I've had.

"Isn't the usual trick just to use a TDi gearbox? "

"Not in the US, but in the UK - http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/ - home - they're putting a Quaife LSD in my Golf's 6 speed box. Very knowledgeable and very helpful and they also do gear upgrades - check their site and find the vendors, then send the list of vendors to your buddy in the US.

I can't remember on teh Audis, but on the transverse 6 speed boxes, 5th and 6th have a different final drive ratio, so you'd only need to change out part of the final drive, not all of it.

HTH"

Default Thank you very much for the research and response !!! I really appreciate it;

here in the States there are a few companies that sell cryo hardened longer gears to achieve a different final ratio, not sure about the Quaife setup, haven't seen that for any Audi.

Thanks again, I'll give them a call next week to see what's what and inquire about their capabilities.
We do have a few TDi gearboxes laying around in Germany, just a matter of shipping them over here.
Overall, this will be another exiting project :-)

Default Over the years I've kept reading about cryo stuff on here but I've never seen it in the UK.
