whining, rubbing noise in 1st/2nd gears
In my 2004 1.8T A4 with a manual transmission, I occasionally get a whining/rubbing noise when I accelerate in 1st gear (and sometimes also in 2nd gear). It doesn't happen every time. The dealer said that a "release bearing" needed to be replaced, but this did not fix the problem. Has anyone else had this happen?

Re: Its your g/box....
I had the same thinkg happen to me 1st it was just in 1st and then it was in 2nd.... turned out to be Input shaft bearings gone.... and depending on howlong you leave this like that input shaft will have teeth broken and pitted....
