Right before I sold my '05.5 A4, I replaced the tires, VERY worn Dunlop Sport Maxx, with BF Goodrich G-Force sport, in the same 235/45-17 size. It wasn't until after I mounted them that I noticed that the BFG's had no rim protector, and the wheel looked VERY vulnerable - exactly like yours in the picture.
I didn't get mine from Tire Rack, I just got them locally. I've used Tire Rack happily for years, but I think they, of all companies, should be diligent about noting whether a tire has a rim protector bead or not. The difference in how the sidewall sits would be a deciding factor for me in a purchase. |

If so, I would do a dispute on the transaction.

they (ZE-912) are much better then the Hankooks I had recently and on par with the Mich Pilot Sports I had years ago. Read some reviews on them for more info. I paid $95/tire for 235/40-18's last year but I think they've gone up a little. You can also try Vulcantire.com.

I have bought tires from Tire Rack for about 15 years with no problems until last fall. I purchased Dunlop M3 winter tires with a packaged Sport Edition wheel. Had vibration problems immediately. Tire Rack "forgot" to provide centering rings which helped at first, but vibration returned. Turned out the wheels had v-shaped bolt holes and of course the OE bolts have a rounded contact point. Despite the correct bolt torque, the bolts were vibrating loose. Plus, I luckily noticed that the OE lug wrench did not fit in the wheel bolt holes so I had to carry a 17mm socket wrench with me in case of a flat. So now Tire Rack concedes that the wheels are not compatible with an A4 after all, but they are out of other compatible wheels at this point. They agreed to take back the wheels but the tires were not returnable. So now I had to keep the tires and had to pay for the removal from the wheels. Luckily I found a nice set of winter wheels from Ronal.

![]() I only deal with Gary. (I use to deal with Luke and Eddie..but Eddie is a cop now..and doesnt work at Tirerack any longer) Nothing you can do now..but I would deal with someone who knows your car better next time. And yes, I think you should work with Tirerack again. Are those your stock rims with the new tires?

How do you figure? If your buying a product site unseen and are relying on the info posted on thier web site specifically tailored to your vehicle and talk to a supposed tire fitment expert then this should be addressed. Now I have to live with this. Then when you call to complain you get nothing.
