Just took delivery of my 06 2.0T 6M Quattro. I would like to chip with APR but don't know if I can do it to a leased car. What I must do to chip my car? Can I do it? Leagal? where do I get the software updates?
Thanks!!! |

Wait a second man, you said your car is a lease, yet you have installed a high flow cat, exaust, chip, and carbonio intake right? That sounds awsome, but what are you going to do with all the stuff you put in when you have to bring your car in for servicing. I can tell you for a fact that the Chip for sure voids the warrenty, and im sure the exaust does as well. I have a leased car as well, so just explain how u plan on getting by. thanks man

Technically none of these mods should void your warranty unless that item causes the failure. Some dealers will force the burden of proof on the consumer by invalidating the warranty and forcing you to take them to court. My dealer is much more customer oriented. They are looking into a contract with APR right now to carry APR products right out of the dealership. cheers! Mike

I cannot say one way or the other whether it's permissible for you to chip a car that you are leasing. Bear in mind, however, that you do not own a leased car and that it's typically a requirement under a lease to return the vehicle in reasonably similar condition as when it was delivered. One answer to your question would be that you can do whatever you want to the car as long as you're willing to pay for it. Frankly, I would urge you to not alter the vehicle in any significant way, or way that could cause damage, without express written permission from the lessor (the entity that holds the lease).

What someone does with a car that they own (hold title to) is their business. A leased car means that it is actually owned by someone else.

without investigating whether the mod caused the failure. This forces the burden of proof on the consumer and can cost the consumer dearly in court and attorney fees. Luckily more dealerships are being good about this and covering repairs when it is obviously not caused by the mods. cheers! Mike
