Default Alrighty but be ready for some madness...

This is a REPOST OF MY "PENNY MOD" from my Silver B6...
Then at the end of THIS post, I repainted it Dolphin Grey.

************************************************** **********************************************
Circa: 04/26/05

Really a DoorPlug Mod for the door key hole

I originally thought I read of someone using a nickel but I test fitted one and it slightly too big...
Well, something just a little less expensive works better.

Here's how I did it:

Supplies/Tools:
- One Penny
- A dab of Bondo
- 150 grit sand paper
- 800 grit sand paper
- Primer Paint
- Color Match Paint
- Clearcoat Paint
- 3M Mounting Squares or 3M 2X-Sided Tape
- Cutting blade

Fabrication & Install Time = 4 hours, Total
Fabrication & Install Time = 30 minutes, elapsed time

Step One:
Break piggy bank and locate one penny

Step Two:
Prepare penny by 'roughing' surface to enhance bonding of Bondo.

Step Three:
Slap some Bondo and hardening agent and mix

Step Four:
Slop Bondo onto penny and press Bondo onto penny to free-up any voids

Step Five:
Let dry for 30 minutes

Step Six:
Sand w/150 grit to smooth surface while removing extra Bondo from penny edges

Step Seven:
Final sand w/800 grit to obtain smooth as glass finish

Step Eight:
Apply 2 coats of primer paint and let dry 15 minutes between coats.

Step Nine:
Apply 3 coats of color match paint and let dry 15 minutes between coats.

Step Ten:
Apply 2 coats of clearcoat paint and let dry 15 minutes between coats.

Step Eleven:
Cut out 3M mounting squares or 2X-sided tape equal to DoorPlug surface.

I used 3M Clear Mounting Squares because they
are soft, tacky and pliable.

Step Twelve:
Apply to Door Key Hole

Step Thirteen:
DONE !!! (Before & After)

One may opt for the easy way out and pay a horrific $13.95 plus shipping from BumperPlugs.com

Here's mine again and here's BumperPlugs.com

************************************************** **********************************************
Circa (present): 07/13/06

I have re-modded my old Door Plug (aka, the Penny Mod) and bascially just repainted it...
I used Audi OEM Dolphin Grey Spray Paint w/ Audi OEM Clear Coat.
I bought this spray paint set not only for this penny mod but primarily to color match my front bumper amber reflectors by painting them.

Well here is the finished product on the Dolphin Grey S4 Avant.

Well, whatcha guys think???
Not bad for a penny !!!

Default that's great until your remote battery dies and you have no way to get into the car.
