Default Intel® Core™2 Duo Proc speeds

<center><img src="http://i.dell.com/images/us/segments/dhs/prodviews/dt_category_xpsdt.jpg"></center><p>I'm looking at new Dell XPS system and I am wondering people's thoughts on clock speeds. Is there a sweet spot yet in the Core™2 Duo line up? Here are the price upgrades.

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6300 (2MB L2 Cache,1.86GHz,1066 FSB) [Included in Price]

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6400 (2MB L2 Cache,2.13GHz,1066 FSB) [add $100 or $3/month1]

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6600 (4MB L2 Cache,2.4GHz,1066 FSB) [add $250 or $8/month1]

Pentium® 4 Processor 670 with HT Technology (3.80GHz, 800 FSB) [add $450 or $14/month1]

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6700 (4MB L2 Cache,2.66GHz,1066 FSB) [add $500 or $15/month1]

Intel® Core™2 Extreme X6800 (4MB L2 Cache,2.93GHz,1066 FSB) [add $1,000 or $30/month1]

Notice they still have a P4 in the line up.

Default ya P4's are still in there but at a higher cost. ya go figure. Just look at the best price break.

several hundred for 200MHZ is not going to help you and is a waste. So just look for the best price break.

Default Neil the E6600 is the best bang for the buck. I have mine overclocked to 2.7 GHz

right now with no heat issues. I ma be able to go as high as 2.9-3 with relative safety. The chip runs cool with very low voltage.

Hope it helps.<ul><li><a href="http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2795&amp;p=18">Anandtech</a></li></ul>

Default +3 : 6600's getting some good OCs out of them w/o a lot of headaches.

Default I have my E6400 to 2.88 GHz... my friend has the same one up to 3.0...

I could go up to 3 if I felt like it but I don't really have the need I guess...
