the line then the E55 will take it. I think modded RS6s are trapping around 111-114ish (RS6.Com has good info) where stock E55s are trapping in the 115ish.
I'm taking my car out to the track next month but I will have Renntech Stage 1 by then... |

Sign up for your first one with prudence!!
I love taking the RS6 to the track. It blows away most stock production cars and it hold its own against the modified ones as well (forget it if they have R-compound tires though). Whenever I run with the local BMW club, I secretly hope for rain. With the AWD, I can get on the power much sooner than with RWD and my corner exit speeds consequently are much higher. This all being said, an E55 sounds like it could be a lot of fun on the track too with a little tightening up of the suspension. I can't decide it if would be more fun passing a BMW with a Benz or a Caddy. Which brings me to my next point, if you're concerned about "value", what about the Cadillac CTS-V?? |

What about long term ownership cost/reliability of one vs the other. I would tend to think the Merc would give less headaches?

Both vehicles are 'sleepers' to the untrained eye. Neither really stands out more then the other.
As for reliability, the E-class is known to have lots of issues. Just go to the Benz forums and you will see! Given that both are using forced induction, albeit different flavor, you are still stressing the engine, thus I think reliability is a toss up on either vehicle. Luck of the draw my friendly troll!
