From Ross Tech Site:
"Throttle Body Adaptation: Turn the key on but do not start the car. [Select] [01 - Engine] [Measuring Blocks - 08] Enter Group 060 (may be Group 098 on some cable-throttle cars) [Go!] [Switch to basic settings] Once you do this you will see the top right display say ADP RUN. The TB adaptation is being done as soon as you switch to basic settings. You will see the values change and hear the TB cycle for the first few seconds then it will stop. Leave it in basic mode for about 30 seconds, then switch back to normal settings and you're all set. Be sure not to touch the accelerator and make sure the engine is NOT running when you do this!" My car is a 98.5 A4 n-dbw (cable throttle) How do I know if I need to use goup 60 or group 98 for block 08? Will I screw anything up if I pick the wrong block? Are there any other VAG tricks for a slightly rough idle other than the TBA ? Thanks. |

Another thing, make sure your car is completely cool. I've seen it where it won't do the tba if the car is hot. Also, something you could try to fix a rough idle is to clean out your throttle body.

Rough Idle? Leaking intake system is probably the blame. Is your dipstick or oil filler cap loose? Could be unmetered air entering the crankcase through the dipstick holder, into the recirculation tube/valve between the MAF and throttle body.. hope this helps.
