Inevitable really. I've had my A3 1 month less one day, and had just finished detailing it....
On Sunday night, a disqualified (and therefore uninsured) driver reversed into my A3 _twice_ when it was parked at a service station. She had the decency to get out and survey the damage, but subsequently did a runner when I asked for her licence details. Fortunately, the Police tracked her down using the rego details and have hopefully applied the appropriate level of truncheon discipline... 8-) Anyhow, other than theraputic purging, the purpose of this post is to ask if anyone has a top class paint shop on Sydney's northside that they are willing to recommend? Also, does anyone have experience with the Scotts Audi (Artarmon) in-house panel shop? Thanks in advance, Ken |

They specialise in Prestige cars e.g Porsche
Ferrari etc. I haven't dealt with Scotts' Audi repair shop, but I did have my Honda repaired at their Honda shop years ago. The quality was okay but little things were missing (i.e. rubber stoppers on fuel flap, trim bits). I've heard good things about an Audi repair shop attached to Bentley of Sydney. They're in Five Dock. Commiserations on your accident |

....because they will always refer you to an "Audi Approved" one, which is not the same guarantee that, say, a BMW Approved or Mercedes Approved repairer is. I don't think Audi has any format approval/evaluation process for crash repairs in Australia.
My dealer referred me to a repairer in Adelaide who, incidentally, were adjacent the dealer, and were 'preferred' repairers for all the brands that this dealer sells (Audi, Jaguar, VW). But my experience, and that of workmates, with this repairer is uniformly average. They do a very average job, even with a simple repair on a red Astra, and I would NEVER take my Audi there. Personally I would check for the BMW Approved repairers closest to you, and check out their experience with Audis.

If you judge good workmanship by the marques in their workshop ...they are always full of Mercs, BMW's, Audi's, Porsches... and their photo-clad wall of fame includes exotics (lambo's, ferrari's etc)

Have thus far sought quotes from both Stows and my local dealer affiliated panel shop. Experiences thus far:
Stows performed detailed quote Friday lunch, faxed through a couple of hours later, was happy to show me through the workshop to inspect work underway and finished jobs. Dealer paint shop inspected vehicle Friday lunch, quote not yet received by COB, got quite defensive when asked to view work underway / finished jobs. "You won't know what you're looking for anyway". No prizes for guessing which way I'm leaning.... |
