This will be my first one since 1991 when I had my 89 200 turbo quattro. I'm thinking double the horsepower may make this a different experience.
Question for Alan about brake pads. Do I need to get different pads or will the OEMs be ok? You probably have more experience with this than anyone else. I'm thinking I may be tip toeing around the track for a while, but time will tell. For those who don't know BIR, it's Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota.

Besides, I don't think there are any aftermarket pads out just yet that fit our car.

Start out with cold tire pressures of around 38 or so (front and back) and then check them immediately after you come off the track and bleed them back to around 41 lbs both front and rear while they are hot. Check them throughout the day after each lapping session to keep them around the same number.
As your speed on the track increases, so will the tire temps and the resulting air pressure. Do be prepared to add more back in after your car is completely cool again. You tire pressure the next morning will be around 31 lbs. or so.

You can get some good practice in. Brainerd can be a pretty intimidating track if you let it... :P

Bill and the reason I went to BIR wa a personal invitation from Frank when we got to talking about Audis when I was meeting with him on a business matter. But I haven't talked to him in years.
Maybe I will go again.
