Default a couple minor complaints

I've only had this car for a few days and I've found it really phenomenal to drive. I do have a couple of very minor complaints. First, my driver's seat memory feature is non-operational. After reading the manual carefully and spending about 45 minutes trying to reprogram (any one of) the memory buttons (and nearly being crushed against the steering wheel), I've given up and will take it into the local dealer for a look. Hopefully this will be an easy fix (as it was with our Jeep GC, which had a similar problem). On the upside, my master key does not affect the seat position either. Since I'm the only user of this car, this is not a big deal -- just a typical glitch.

My other (minor) beef is with the wiper controls. While I managed to (mostly) figure out all the options on the fly, it did take some playing around. Reading the quick ref guide cleared things up a bit, but the manual (at least my copy) did not address the rear window wiper at all (with the exception of changing it). It seems a little more complicated than necessary, but (again) a very minor issue.

I guess these kinds of things give the car personality. I'm hoping that the engine and transmission don't develop any unusual personality traits. Remember the Stephen King movie Christine?

Default Some answers...

I am pretty sure there is a typo in the manual for the seat memories. That is probably your problem I know someone brought it up a while ago.

I dont have an avant so i cant really comment on the 2nd point.

Ok! I'll give Barrier Motors service a call and see if they can provide a hint over the phone. Would be nice not to have to bring it in for this.

Default To work the rear wiper, push the wiper arm back/away from you to turn on....

push back again (will not click in) to work washer. Very easy. This is not in the manual - I had to figure out for myself.

Default Re: To work the rear wiper, push the wiper arm back/away from you to turn on....

Thanks! I got it during that first heavy rain, but it took some playing around to sort out turning the rear intermittent wipe off, setting the rear auto-wiper on/off. Turning them on is in the "quick reference", but not in the manual. But turning them off is not addressed in either. And it's not quite "just move the stalk back to 0". It all seems to work, but I get some (what seem like) inconsistent reactions. Not a big deal, just a little more complicated than I'd expect for wipers.

Default More answers

As I recall, do not hold down the stop button as the manual instructs. I still can't get the keys to work with the seat.

Default I was never able to program my seatt to work with the key.

I figured that I did something incorectly during the programming proceedure. Since I drive the car 99% of the time, I have not gotten around to programming it again. Any Tips?

Default Why would anyone call seat memory problems a glitch?

You paid $50K+ for the car, you actually paid extra for memory seats as part of an options package, so yeah, it should work.

Calling it a "glitch" is like saying the "no reverse" problems were a "glitch" as well... :-(

Default Its just a problem in the directions I believe....

so it is a glitch. It most likely works, he is just useing instructions that wont work for what he is doing.

Default driver's seat memory instruction error verified

Ok. Adax was spot on. Do not press the Stop button before trying to program. Thank you for your response(s)! Sorry for the disruption.
