Default 2004 BMW 330i Performance Package .........................

I know....I know......Audi always posts conservative performance figures.........HOWEVER.....

235 hp and 220 lb/ft of torque. 0-60 in the BMW = 5.9 seconds...............

344 hp and 302 lb/ft of torque. 0-60 in the B6 S4 = 5.6 seconds...............

Anyone know the weight differential in these two cars???? Or the approximate weight differential???

Default Lets say there is no way that car is hitting 5.9 !!!! (And the S4 has been tested to 5.2 I thought)

They also list the 330 i at 6.4 in stick.
First of all, I highly doubt that time.

But you think adding 10 hp and 6 lbs/ft of torque is worth .5 seconds... to get it to 5.9 ?

I highly doubt that.

And the S4 has been tested from 5.2 - 5.3 I thought ?

Default Re: 2004 BMW 330i Performance Package .........................

Actually Audi's conservative numbers are 0-62 in 5.6 seconds. On top of that I would expect the BMW's shorter gearing to play a big part. American bimmers tend to be geared for 0-60 seeing as that's more important than top speed on this side of the pond (North America). However, I'd expect the gap to widen as speed increases and the Audi makes good use of all that horsepower. In reality, I personally doubt a 330i w/PP will stand much of a chance against an S4, atleast 0-60.

Default I agree.........obviously the higher hp of the B6 S4 would dictate a widening gap at speed.....

any idea on the weight question...........

Default You need to start reading some Automotive magazines

The 330i easily does mid 6 second Zero to sixty times. I've never seen a time above 6.5sec for the 330 in any automotive magazine road test of the 330.

The Audi A4 3.0 does 0-60 in about 7.0 seconds flat. You mean to tell me that a shorter geared, 300lb lighter car, that doesn't have the acceleration zapping AWD system, cannot out accelerate an A4 3.0? If you don't already know the 330i beats out the A4 3.0. That is a fact.

I own a 330i and I believe the numbers. If you don't believe me try test driving a 330i.

Default Whats your point ? (I more than agreed with you saying BMW lists 6.4 for 330i)

The Audi website claims 6.9 for 3.0 Quattro in stick and I thought Audi times were also conservative ?

But anyway that wasn't the argument... I don't knwo what you missed from my post.

I was saying adding 10 hp and 6 lbs/ft isnt gonna make the .5 seconds faster.

I never brought in the A4 3.0 and its 0-60 time.

I said I higly doubt 6.4, but whatever they list it (they obviously cant lie)... but unlike Audi who is conservative and faster than they list.

Default I would guess around 300 pounds

Assuming S4 around 3600 lbs
330i PP 3300

Default you need to look at other things then hp/torque ratings

shorting final drive, different ratios for the 6-speed too.

Default Alright... so the car does 5.9 ... then back to whats the difference the S4 is still faster ...

The 330 i PP will be a pricing delemma I'm sure.

They have so many cars to sell in that range right there.

330 i, 330 xi, 330 i PP, 330 ci, M3

Your first paragraph stated
"They also list the 330 i at 6.4 in stick.
First of all, I highly doubt that time."

That is what I was responding to. Sorry if I misunderstood what you wrote.
