... Of course, a single turbo or supercharged 4.2L V8 would package in the B6 engine bay.
As would a single turbo 5.0L FSI V8... IF such an engine existed.

don't get your hope on RS4 in Canada, defently will not arrive in Canada either.. thank your local government Ministry of Transportation for putting idiotic laws on bumpers and damage control which is another way protecting insurance companies..

Yes, Auto Week a few issues back stated that the RS4 is indeed coming and it will be packaged with a Bi-Turbo. They did call the B6 S4 right with the 4.2 when other sources sated otherwise.
I don't know about the rest of you, but when I think of Audi and their cars, I picture, AWD and Turbo power plants. I am disappointed with the V8 in many ways because not only dose it get away form what I love about the company, but the hp is rather low considering the displacement. When I think big V8, I picture 400hp+ big grunt hp. I hope the RS4 comes in with: Bi-Turbo Engine with E46 M3 and E39 M5 stopping power More Drive feed back steering Price that keeps it somewhat as a bargain for all the power. I'm afraid the RS4 might be what the RS6 is. A great car but already beaten in numbers before it reaches our market and still lacks what BMW can create for the driving experience...

Look at the 2.7T. That didn't even make 100hp/liter in stock form and that was forced induction. What did you expect? I wouldn't even call this a "big" V8. Not that it's small, but 4.2 liters isn't that huge. Look at what engines of comparable size make. The Lexus 4.3 liter V8 makes 75hp/liter. I think the Jag's 4.2 makes 71hp/liter. The Mercedes 4.3 liter V8 only makes 63hp/liter, as well as making less torque. I can think of only five European production V8's that make more power without using forced induction (residing in the M5, the CLK55, Maserati Coupe/Spider, Ferrari 360, and Porsche's new ugly duckling) and only the Ferrari/Maserati engine (which are indeed vary smilar) make are of comparable size. Sure, I would have liked to see 360hp since I know Audi can do it, but those 20hp wouldn't have made all the difference in the world.
In conclusion: I see nothing to complain about. Sorry about the rant

Good points. Yes, the 4.2 is not "big", obvious the same weight as our 2.7T. My wording should have compared the Audi N/A engines to the M power plants. Smaller displacement and almost as much power. I know, our can not compare apples to oranges. Yes, the 2.7T compared to a North American spec E36 M3 was not a amazing power plant, but it offered so much tuning potential that most thought of the 2.7T as a 300hp engine. Just some thought. I am an Audi fan for many reasons and just want to see the brand on top.
