I just made a deal on a 3.0 cabriolet (Dolphin gray/black/black, premium package, heated seats) and am picking it up this week. One of the features I desired in a new car was a navigation system and that was a big criterion for me when shopping. However, after I winnowed down my car choices to the Audi Cab I was saddened to discover that the navigation system offered in the US is woeful. As I was already all revved up on my choice of cars I went against my initial feelings and ordered the Cab without the pitiful US Audi nav system. So, my question is - what do I do about an after-market system? Is there any place to install one or should I just mount it and plug it in to the lighter or some other power source (I assume there's one on the dash). Any ideas?

I have installed a Becker navigation system in my car. It has won several prices and doesn't cost that much. Sony and JVC has just bought the rights to use Beckers electronics in their own navigation systems. It looks great in the car because it is red in dash.

Do you have any pics of it? Is it mounted on top of the dash?
What's wrong with the OEM sat/nav? I know it doesn't have the full screen, but other than that, is it limited? Does anyone on this forum own a cab with the Sat/Nav? If so, what are your thoughts. I'm waiting on a quattro version of a 3.0 cab before I order (hopefully, they'll offer a manual in the U.S.) Thanks. |

They're based in Denver, CO. They pretend that they can mount the Navigation Plus system Audi offers in Europe on Audi US cars. I called them about 3 months ago and was told that they were working on installing it on Audi US A4 cab. I have not heard back since then.
Please post info if you call them. Thanks, Fenwayfan

Thanks for the help, Fenwayfan - and I'll almost forgive your misguided Red Sox allegiance. I e-mailed Avalon Motorsports - if I don't hear back from them in the next few days I will follow it up with a call. I'll let you know what they tell me. I noticed that they have a location in NJ - which wouldn't be too bad for me if it's a part of NJ close to NYC. Thanks again.

No problem about my Red Sox allegiance, I actually have nothing to do with them but I thought it was a cool handle name to use.
I just called Avalon and they're still working on it. They guy told me that he will give me a call in 2 weeks for an update. Fenwayfan.

Do you have the 4720 system fitted in your car?
How do you think the 4725 system will look with the red buttom/blue screen ? If I thoose one of theese systems, what place would be the best for the GPS antenna, or do you know if the original mounted in the boot can be used? |

Yes, I´m looking for a Becker navi system to be fitted in me A4 cabrio (delivery this summer), but I´m not sure if I should buy 4720 (with red button/screen) or 4725 (with red button / blue screen ).
What is your opinion ? Isn´t there blue at the FIS display between the 2 big "clock´s" on the dashboard ? |

Hi!
I had a Golf GTI, before my audi, with a Becker with red button/blue screen. I loved the blue screen but i didn't thing it looked good in the audi, so I sold it, and bought a red/red system instead. It looks really nice. I can try to take picture of it later when it is dark. Br Caver |
