Default my V1 and its remote audio controls...

well some of you might remember my battery problems and my original thoughts i had drained it by mis-wiring my V1... well here's what i was working on that day...

a while back i contacted LI-S4 (Michael) about designing an integrated remote display for the B6, and as we're talking we also thought about doing an integrated remote audio control set-up... in the end, i got Michael to only do the audio set-up as i'm hoping to have the V1 warnings displayed in my cluster...

so i bought the V1 remote audio control from Valentine and had it shipped directly to Michael...

i also sent him the trim located next to the headlight switch since on my MY03 there's nothing there, i thought it would be a perfect spot for the controls and the speaker...

Michael worked his magic skills and resoldered a bunch of wires and relocated the speaker, and here's what the end result looked like...

the wiring done by Michael:

so last weekend i went ahead and proceded to install everyting... here are the pics from my installation... right now i'm just too lazy to annotate them, but if any of you get Michaell do to them a similar unit and want more info, feel free to let me know...

remove the knee bolster...

place the remote audio connectors unit inside the trim opening...

then put the trim back in its place...

secure the remote audio connectors unit to the car... i used a sheet of foam to protect the board and its soldering from the metal and secured it all w/ some electric tape...

plug the V1 main unit in the power out of the remote audio connectors unit...

plug the main unit of the direct-wire power adaptor to the power in of the remote audio connectors unit...

hardwire the V1 and secure the direct-wire power adaptor using the velcro and double sided tape provided w/ the V1...

and here's the results once everything is all back in place...

i can now control the on/off, volume and mute of the V1 w/o having to reach too far... i'll admit it take a little use to to not turn up the volume as you press the mute button, but after a couple of days of getting the hang of it, it's not a problem anymore...

so big thanks to Michael and feel free to contact him for more info on pricing and what not... LI-S4 [longislands4@optonline.net]

Default Great Work...Question though; What's that hole next to the knob?

Is it suppose to be a micro speaker?
It almost looks like a busted out LED.

Default That is the micro speaker...

The flash is reflected by the inside of the speaker...without a flash, it looks like a black hole, much like the hole on the side of the V1 Main unit.

Default Looks Great!! And glad you like it!

Excellent writeup!!

When you reach to mute an alert, try using your knuckles instead of your finger tips. You might be less likely to adjust the volume.
