Default Pics of my new Kenwood double-din DDX 7017 T/S HU / 4100 DVD Nav (BWW)

Got the setup installed a few weeks ago. The installers at DSI Mobile Electronics, Laurel, MD did a great job. They've done all the installs on my A/V gear. I highly recommend them for folks in the area.

The Metra dash trim kit color/texture matches perfectly. I believe this trim kit is a replacement to an earlier one from Metra.

The shop said they did not encounter any issues with the flush install. Went smooth. FYI, I have the BOSE. The optional speed sensor from Kenwood is mounted on the front axel. They did not tap into the wiring directly behind the instrument cluster. The GPS antenna is mounted under the front dash for a stealth install. It picks up signals from atleast 6 GPS satellites all the time.

The HU itself is very impressive. So is the DVD Nav unit. Kenwood gives you two DVD Nav discs that covers the US and Canada with what I believe, the most Points-Of-Interests vs. the competition. They are both intuitive thanks to the touchscreen (T/S) and I was able to master them within a few days.

In Nav mode, I love the fact you can have split screens; the road map and turn list displays. For the voice-prompts, you can choose from several languages. Navigation can be done by city, street, address, intersections, points of interest, or even phone number. I didn't go with the Voice control module. Its an option I might consider later.

Not that I do but I can watch both a DVD movie or any other Video source AND use the DVD-Nav at the same time. The units are not locked while the car is moving. Both of these factors were a major selling point to me when comparing with the Pioneer or Eclipse models.

The HU has brightness/contrast adjustability and plays DVDs, DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs, DVD+Rs, DVD+RWs, CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, MP3/WMA discs, JPEG, and MPEG1 and 2 files. Has both XM and iPod T/S controls. The Red illumination matches with the rest of the interior. The next higher end DD HU (DDX 8017) also has 5.1 sound and custom wallpapers. Of course, you loose the Radio display in the center of the instrument cluster but that does not bother me at all. I never really looked at it honestly.

I am very satisfied with the Kenwood and hope to enjoy it (and the car) for many more years. Below the pictures, I have provided a link to Kenwood USA.

I looked at other units but for the features, price, and option for extended warranty, you can't go wrong with this setup.

Default ==>> eBay has the best prices and the labor is roughly 3-4 hrs. (more)

Was thinking about OEM but in the end, I was sold on the features and warranty. I bought mine from an authorized reseller.
