Default UPDATE of my car (pics of new Intercooler)

The new intercooler (Russ from Racetec Engineering) is on with all the new piping. The piping is 2.25" off the turbo into the intercooler, then 2.5" into a 2.75" straight, then into the throttle body. The reason why we used a transition from 2.5" to 2.75" about 8" before the throttle body was to reduce the air from tumbling. The 2.75" piping from the throttle body is quite long and is not a quick transition right into the TB. The throttle body itself is 2.75" and to change from 2.5" to 2.75" would slow the air velocity down.

We used 2 BOV mounts for the extreme pressure that I will be running. Right now one is capped off. The rest of the parts are waiting to be put on the car, along with a new set of wheels. =)

Look at the size of the piping going into the throttle body!

Dual BOV mounts.

Custom fabbed brackets, with some nice clamps to hold the boost!

New wheels going on. 18" by 8".

How about some 16" stock wheels with hubcap spinners and we'll call it even. =)

If I saw that on the road, I would shriek in horror and run away flailing my arms like a school girl

Default They look like Champion Racing wheels.

Any real advantage to such huge IC piping? I imagine some, but...

Default with his turbo flow capability, he needs large piping.

The Goal for the car is 500+ HP. Maintaining pressure is tubing size on the turbo side before the intercooler, on the throttle body side, it is better to go wider without having to worry about pressure drop.

Default Certainly, but is there a point where it's too large?

Wouldn't some testing reveal the ideal pipe size, or is "bigger the better" good enough?
