Default A pillar removal?

I've done what believe is an aggressive search of the '02 A4 forum and have not found the details that I'm seeking for the A pillar removal. I'm going to hardwire my new V1 in this weekend and although I have rather thorough instructions on the wiring aspect of the install, I can't seem to locate the A pillar removal instructions.

Any information is appreciated - thanx!

Default Re: A pillar removal?

It's not too difficult but be careful of cross-threading the bolts - it's easy to do.

The Bentley CD says:

Removal

- Remove sun visor page 70-71 .
- Fold down roof grab handle -5-.
- Fold down lid above bolts on roof grab handle -4-.
- Remove bolts -2-.
- Unclip rear airbag label -9- (on B-pillar) and move it down.
- Remove bolt from airbag label.
- Remove upper A-pillar trim -1- below upper B-pillar trim and unclip three clips -3-.
- Remove upper A-pillar trim -1- to the rear.
----------
Installing

WARNING! Always follow installation sequence for A-pillar trim

- Guide upper A-pillar trim -1- toward front between door rubber and side plate.
- Guide trim retainer -10- into the proper clip.
- Clip securely the upper A-pillar trim -1- using three clips -3-.
- Slide up trim beneath B-pillar trim.
- Ensure that the clip and metal hook of head-level airbag adapter engage securely.

WARNING! Make sure trim has a proper fit.

Key for diagram:

2 - Bolts (2x)
- Tightening torque 4 Nm.
Self-locking
Always replace
Always clean threaded holes for bolts (e.g. using a thread cutter)
3 - Clips (3x)
4 - Lid for roof grab handle
5 - Roof grab handle

Default Where is the AirBag? In the part that comes off or on the car frame?

Default Mounted to the car frame - it won't be affected by removal of the trim.
